Reindeer hooves truly do click, and it all comes down to their amazing anatomy. With each step, tendons snap over the bones in their back hooves. This natural movement creates a clear clicking sound. The noise is more than just interesting. It helps reindeer stay together, even during harsh winter weather. In heavy snow and strong winds, reindeer can follow the sound of the clicks to locate the rest of the herd. They simply listen and move toward the group.
